Karon Beach
Karon Beach is the second most popular Phuket beach, it is located between the beach with singing sand, Kata, and the heart of Phuket nightlife, Patong. Karon is a great track of around three kilometers. The main trait of the place is so called “creaky” sands, it’s not a joke. You really hear the sounds when you walk along the beach. It occurs because of it contains the high concentration of quartz.
It’s known that Karon consists of two beaches. The first one is the north, it’s called as “Karon Noi”, small beach. This side is allowed to attend only for Le Meridian Hotel guests, or you can reach it by boat from Patong. The second beach is in the south and called as “Karon Yai”, big one. The majority of hotels and residential complexes are situated here. There is a variety of shops, seafood restaurants, cafes, markets, art galleries, souvenir shops and bars in Karon roads. The quite famous shopping area Aroona Plaza offers different goods, works of art, thai sweets and clothes. In additional, it is built in the style of Sino-Portuguese architecture and can be interesting for the lovers of Phuket history and culture.
Karon Beach is the spot of active water sports, especially surfers adore this beach from June to September, when there is a south-western wind on the beach. As a result, huge ocean waves attract surfers from around the world.
