Looking back Rawai is probably the very first real tourist beach on Phuket Island. People would reavel from various loactions around Phuket to Rawai on weekends to to get away from the towns and work to relax and while away the time on the beach rneath the beach.

Nowadays Rawai is a vibrant little town with many little shops (Tesco Lotus) , bars, resturaunts. It is simple to get a long tail boat or speed boat from the beach for day boat excursions out to Phuket's surrounding islands.
