Find your holiday villa in Phuket: easy tips

In this article we will talk about how to find your holiday villa in Phuket. This type of holidays is a great opportunity for at least a short period of time to feel a little "local" trying to be a bit Thai every day.

Typically rental villas are located far away from hotels and cheap popular resort life, that's why you can look at this country from another point of view. Just imagine, within one week your neighbors will start greeting you, sellers in nearby stores will learn your tastes, regular visits to local cafes and restaurants will allow waiters to remember your culinary preferences. The unquestionable advantages of independent rental home concerns impressive savings – renting a villa for a month is much cheaper than daily rent rates, and you can relax there with the whole family or invite your friends. This stand-alone accommodation will let fully enjoy holidays not trying to be on time in the hotel restaurant.

How to save money by choosing a property?

Western Europeans picking vacation villas for rent often stop at some distance away from the sea. First, it is not comfortable to live in too noisy and crowded places. Secondly, cost of houses in remote parts of Phuket is much cheaper than maritime property price. Quiet, beautiful views from terraces and reasonable prices - that's what practical foreigners keep in mind selecting vacation housing. Also savings are possible to do if to prefer low season time (May – October). Do not forget that New Year’s rates are the most expensive ones within the entire year.

Actually Phuket property market is spoilt for various choices. You will find your holiday villa whatever your requirement preferences are: luxury villas in Naithon, modest but comfortable village house in Kata or Rawai, beach front manor in Nai Harn and many other options.

What is surprising that rater are not always directly proportional to the number of facilities in the building, frequently it is rather a question of prestige and popularity of a particular place, or adequacy of its owners. Just drive a couple of kilometers away from the nice but expensive house which was found in a magazine, and you will surely be able to find almost a complete copy, but at an affordable price. The only difference is that the first has already been advertised and owner of the second one simply does not know what the "internet" means. Ask, do not hesitate! Contact local real estate agency. It will save your time. Many villas are rented with staffs working there - a chief, maid, gardener, nanny. The cost of their services is negotiated separately, or included in the total rental amount (except for tips, of course).

What to ask the house owner about?

How far is it from the beach and shops?

How far is the main road?

Are there any constructions nearby?

Who are neighbors?

Are there any dangerous ladders for kids (if you have any)?

Is there a communal or private pool?

How high are fence balconies and terraces?

What type of windows?

Additional fees?

What to pack for a trip?

Usually leased villas have a range of accessories for shower - shower gel, soap, shampoo. Toothpaste and toiletries should be carried by yourself. Try to take all in small packages - if necessary, you will be able to buy them on the island (it is even better to there because these stuffs are extremely cheap there).

If you need any medication, it is better to bring your own one, as pharmaceutical names differ depending on country,( except for aspirin and another small amount of international names.

Arrival day

Discuss with owner how to use house appliances, how to block water or gas, where to go in case of accidents and, of course, take his phone number, as always will be a need to clarify something with him.

Difficulties of “independent” living

You will have to deal with all economic affairs personally: number of everything you need for the home, food, cooking, cleaning, if you do not plan to hire a cook and housekeeper, taking care of yard and maybe garden too. On the other hand, it is a great opportunity to try on the daily life of this beautiful island, which might ever make you not leave any more.
